LUKE WALDEN – Short Biography (2010)

Luke Walden is a documentary filmmaker, cameraman and editor. His most recent film, The Narcotic Farm, received public funding from the Independent Television Service, aired nationally on public television in 2008 and 2009, and received the Accolade Award for best documentary research and the Radar Hamburg Film Fest special topics award. Luke’s other awards include the 2004 Audience Award for Best Bocumentary Short at the San Francisco Independent Film Festival and as Director of Photography, the SIGNIS prize at the 2008 Santiago Film Festival in Chile for Slice, a narrative feature. His freelance clients have included the New York Public Library, the United Nations department of Peacekeeping, and the Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda. Luke is a graduate of Brown University with a BA in Greek, Latin and Ancient history and literature and a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design with an Masters of Fine Arts in photography, video art, and documentary film. He has taught photography as an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut and Rhode Island School of Design, and filmmaking at the New York Film Academy. A native of Boston, Luke lived and worked in New York for ten years and now lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and daughter.
